Carnegie Mellon Holds Off Behrend Women's Basketball

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Carnegie Mellon women's basketball team defeated Penn State Behrend 78-74 on day two of the Women Leader's Tip-Off Tournament hosted by Allegheny on Saturday afternoon.

* The Tartans shot 45.2 percent from the floor and held a 51-35 advantage on the boards to remain undefeated on the early season
* Down seven after the first quarter, the Lions outscored Carnegie Mellon 29-25 in the second to face a three-point deficit heading into the second half
* The Tartans grew a double-digit lead to end the third quarter at 65-55
* Although Behrend fought back in the fourth quarter, they came up short by four points

* Off the bench, Julia Balaski (Mercer, PA/Mercer) posted 10 points and drained a pair of triples
