Women's Basketball Winning Streak Continues; Lions Down Pitt-Greensburg

GREENSBURG, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend women's basketball team extended its winning streak to seven games - all in the New Year - by rolling over Allegheny Mountain Collegiate College (AMCC) foe Pitt-Greensburg 88-60 Saturday at Chambers Hall.

* After allowing Pitt-Greensburg to score the game's first basket, the Lions took complete control
* Penn State Behrend led 30-11 after a quarter and 56-23 at halftime following a 26-12 advantage in the second
* Four starters for the Lions were already in double-figures at the break
* The halftime stats were Morgan Altavilla (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) (13), Madilyn Boyer (Saxonburg, PA/Knoch) and Alaina Fabin (Indiana, PA/Homer Center) (11 each) and Rachel Majewski (Erie, PA/Vailla Maria Academy (10)
* Behrend shot a blistering 53.8% from the floor in the first twenty (21 of 39), including 4-for-10 from beyond the arc
* The Bobcats shot just 27.6% and were denied a triple in nine attempts
* The Lions defense also forced 14 turnovers
* The rest of the game was a formality as the lead ballooned to 80-42 after 30 minutes before Behrend settled for the 28-point final margin
* 13 players scored for the Lions led by Altavilla (18), Fabin (15), Boyer (13) and Majewski (12). 
* Penn State Behrend has scored 653 points during its winning streak (93.3) and has allowed 373 (53.3)
