Women's Basketball Completes Perfect Conference Season

ALFRED, NY – The Penn State Behrend women's basketball team registered its first-ever undefeated season in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC), defeating Alfred State 91-49 in the regular-season finale on Wednesday night.

* The Behrend Lions finished conference play with an unscathed 16-0 record
* The win marks the third time the Lions have reached 20 or more wins in a season under head coach Christine VanHook
* Behrend had four players with double-figure points, led by Morgan Altavilla (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) led with 20 points for the second straight game
* Altavilla has scored 20 or more points six times this season
* Alania Fabin (Indiana, PA/Homer Center) tallied 18 point, eight rebounds, a season-best five steals and four assists
* Fabin and Altavilla each had four points to start the game to give the Lions a quick 8-0 lead in the first 1:39 of the game
* The first quarter produced Behrend's most points at 28, while holding the Pioneers to just single-digits in the second for a 54-24 halftime score
* The Lions had 38 bench points and forced 23 turnovers
* Emma Marstellar (Sandy Lake, PA/Lakeview) had a season-high 12 points and Julia Balaski (Mercer, PA/Mercer) chipped in 10
* Alexis Furyes (Medina, OH/Highland) was the only player with double-digit rebounds (10)
* Behrend shot 44.9 percent from the floor and made all five free-throw attempts

* The Lions are back in action on Friday, February 28 for the semifinals of the AMCC Championships. The No. 1 Behrend Lions will face the winner of No. 4/5 at 6 p.m.
