Lenhardt Wins Three; Lions Fall in Three

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend wrestling team fell in three dual matches held at Washington & Jefferson on Saturday.
The Lions dropped a 37-6 decision to West Liberty in the first match, before falling 37-12 to the hosts Presidents and then 34-12 to Thomas More.
Jacob Lenhardt (McKean, PA/General McLane) won all three matches on the day, two by decision, one in overtime and another by fall.
Against West Liberty, Max McCann (Export, PA/Franklin Regional) and Lenhardt were winners. McCann won at 165 with a 10-4 decision over Jacob Ramsey. Lenhardt tallied a 5-0 decision at heavyweight against Ron D'Amico.
Sam Svetz (North East, PA/North East) (157) and Jake Paulson (Erie, PA/McDowell) (184) each fell by two points against West Liberty.
In the match against W&J, Jake Fankhouser won by forfeit at the 125 weight class to begin for a 6-0 lead. Paulson defeated William Oberschelp 7-4 at 184 for three points, while Lenhardt tallied his second win of the day with a 3-1 overtime victory against Derek Allen.
Thomas More won the first three weight classes before Jake Ognibene (Washington, PA/Chartiers-Houston) earned a 5-4 decision over Andrew Tevis. At 184, Paulson registered his second win with a 6-2 decision over Avery Jones.
Lenhardt finished the day for Behrend, pinning Hamilton Young in 1:20 to get the last six points.
The Lions return to action on Saturday at Waynesburg, beginning at 11 a.m.
