Senior Joe Newara pinned two opponents and made his way to the sixth-place bout at heavyweight to lead the Penn State Behrend wrestling team at the Washington & Jefferson Invitational on Sunday.
WASHINGTON, Pa. – Joe Newara (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek) pinned three opponents and made his way to the sixth-place bout at heavyweight to lead the Penn State Behrend wrestling team at the Washington & Jefferson Invitational on Saturday.
Key Moments:
* Newara went 4-2, falling in double overtime in the sixth-place bout to Scarmauzzino of Lake Erie
* Newara had three pins on the day, taking down Andrew McFee of Muskingum in 2:03, pinned Zach Harper of Hiram in 1:12 and followed with another fall in 2:21 against M. McCracken of W&J
* At 149, Cole Ruffo (Mercer, PA/Hickory) put on a Behrend uniform for the first time this season
* Ruffo pinned Joshua Searle of W&J in 1:21, before dropping to the consolation bracket

* Speraw defeated Judd Cummings of W&L by an 8-3 decision
