ITHACA, N.Y. – The Penn State Behrend wrestling team competed in their first Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference (ECWC) Championships on Sunday.
Results: 9th out of 9 teams (3)
Key Moments:
* Joe Newara (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek) pinned Keaton Renfrew of Alfred State (1:35) in his first bout at heavyweight
* The fall marks Newara's 11th of the season
* Newara advanced in the championship bracket but had to stop his final bout to Joe Yanis of Brockport at 4:53 due to injury
* Tyler Speraw (Annville, PA/Annville-Cleona) also had to pull out of the tournament due to injury in his second bout at 165, a higher weight class
