Behrend Wrestling Takes Fourth at AMCC Championships
The Penn State Behrend wrestling team finished fourth in the inaugural Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championships held in the Junker Center on Sunday.
ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend wrestling team finished fourth in the inaugural Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championships held in the Junker Center on Sunday.
Key Moments:
* Alfred State registered 136 total points to win the first-ever AMCC Championship
* Pitt-Bradford came in second with 66.5 points, followed by Hiram with 56 points for third
* The Lions tallied 40 points with three wrestlers placing
* Zach Dellinger (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville) picked up an injury forfeit win against Brandon Tanner of Alfred State at 125 to get propelled into the finals
* Dellinger lost to Mason Drew of Alfred State by pinfall in 5:39 to take second place
* Kyle Trim (Bemus Point, NY/Maple Grove) and Dylan Barber (Brookville, PA/Brookville) each placed third in their weight class
* Trim, competing at heavyweight, tallied two decision wins in the consolation bracket to place third
* Trim posted a 5-1 decision over Evan Albrecht before defeating Nicholas Barrett 3-1
* Barber fell in his first match by major decision 11-1 and then pinned Keaton Renfrew of Alfred State in 1:18 to place third at 197
* Zachary Tingley (Stoneboro, PA/Lakeview) went 2-2 on the day, pinning Kwame Stewart in 6:14 and teammate Eric Liu (Shanghai, China/St. Pius X) in 0:22 seconds to advance to the placing match at 184
* Tingley took fourth overall, falling 6-3 to Joe LoVerde from Alfred State
* Wrestling at 133, Mitchell Headley (Jamestown, PA/Jamestown) came in fourth place going 1-2 for the championships
* Headley got an 8-0 major decision over Corey Casterline of Hiram and then received a bye into the placing match
