Behrend Wrestling Places Fifth At Alvernia Invite to Begin Season

READING, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend wrestling team finished fifth out of 10 teams with a score of 57.5 at the Tonee Ellis Memorial Tournament hosted by Alvernia on Saturday afternoon.

Key Moments:

* Peyton Hearn (Conneaut, PA/Conneaut) led the way for the Lions at 157 with 13 points of his own to finish second at the invitational
* Hearn started the afternoon with a pinfall in a time of 1:54
* The graduate transfer would go on to earn two more victories and punch a ticket into the championship bout, falling in overtime
* Six Behrend freshman competed for the first time and registered their first wins
* The second top individual scorer for the Lions was freshman Brodie Little (Falconer, NY/Falconer Central) at 165 with 10.5 points
* Little recorded a team-high four pins in his first collegiate competition. He was followed by Matthew Caldwell (Wheatfield, NY/Starpoint), who had two pins
* Cole Neil (Saint Marys, PA/Saint Marys), Eric Morales (San Antonio, TX/Burbank), Martin Ohlsson (Westfield, NY/Westfield Academy), Sebastian Chiesa (West Springfield, PA/Northwestern), and Alexander Cole (South Park, PA/South Park) also delivered points on the day for the Lions
* Morales placed fourth in the heavyweight division
* Other Lions suiting up for the first time and notching victories on the mat were Lane Dellaquila (Saint Marys, PA/Elk County Catholic), Trey Lineberry (Chesapeake Beach, MD/Northern), Jake Brown (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg), and Michael Ruiz (Charter Oak, CA/Charter Oak)
* Ruiz scored a team-high for a single match with 22 points in his second match of the afternoon
* As a team, Behrend tallied 13 pinfalls and two technical falls
