Penn State Behrend Women's Soccer Cruises Past the Hawks 7-0
The Penn State Behrend Lions were back in action after a tough 1-0 league loss to Frostburg State on the road Saturday. On Wednesday, October 22, the Behrend Lions responded to the challenge and cruised past the Hilbert Hawks 7-0, behind six different goals scorers.
After thirteen minutes of scoreless soccer, Behrend's Lindsey Steinsdoerfer (Pittsburgh/North Hills) connected for her team leading eighth goal of the season to provide some breathing room for the blue and white. With only 10:21 remaining in the first half, Behrend's second goal of the day came off Caitlyn Elser's (Cranberry/Seneca Valley) direct kick from twenty-five yards out.
At the conclusion of the first 45 minutes, Behrend held a 9-0 advantage on shots, while the corner kicks were even at one apiece.
Senior Nikki Frisbee (Valencia/Mars) finished off a rebounded
shot to make it 3-0, seven minutes into the second half. Additional
goals were then added by Beth Manganaro (Pittsburgh/Chartiers
Valley), Steinsdoerfer, Heather Klimuszka (Rochester,
NY/Greece-Athena) and Glennis Robash (Mars/Mars).
Behrend's defense did not face much pressure in the contest as
goalie Beth Lacy (Erie/Harborcreek) recorded the shutout. The blue
and white improve to 6-9-1 on the season and 5-2 in the AMCC, while
the Hawks fall to 5-10 and 1-6 in league play.
