Penn State Behrend Defeats Grove City Wolverines 1-0

The Penn State Behrend Lions women's soccer team defeated the Grove City Wolverines by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday, September 23 at the Behrend Fields.

It was a back and forth battle throughout the first half and neither team could find the back of the net.  The first half ended with Behrend having four shots on goal to Grove City's three, but the scored remained 0-0.

The score stayed the same through most of the second half until the 9:23 mark when freshman Julia Schroeck (Fairview/Fairview) found the back of the net on a great pass from teammate Lindsey Steinsdoerfer (Pittsburgh/North Hills).  The score put Behrend in front 1-0 and they went on to hold that lead until the final whistle.  Senior goalkeeper Kayla Frost (Venetia/Peters Township) recorded her fourth shutout of the season and had three saves in the contest.

The blue and white will be back in action on Saturday, September 26 when they take on the Penn State Altoona Lions in an AMCC conference matchup.  The win improves Behrend's record to 5-2-1 overall and 1-0 in the AMCC.
