Penn State Behrend Women's Soccer Takes Care of Franciscan 2-0

The Penn State Behrend Lions took care of the Franciscan University Barons on Saturday, October 17 by a final tally of 2-0.  The game was played at Mercyhurst College due to the conditions at the Behrend Fields.

The first half was a battle as neither team seemed to have a decisive adavantage over the other.  Both the Behrend Lions and Barons traded shots with one another but no team could put a score on the board.  At the 42:23 late in the first half, Behrend struck with a goal from freshman Danielle Pelensky (Erie/Harborcreek) on a beautiful assist from teammate Erin McCreary (Pittsburgh/Seton-LaSalle).

The score remained 1-0 until the 76:51 minute mark in the second half when sophomore Glennis Robash (Mars/Mars) found the back of the net on a pass from teammate Valerie Wagner (Pittsburgh/Montour).  This goal put the game out of reach and Behrend went on to hold the 2-0 win.

Seniors Kayla Frost (Venetia/Peters Township) and Beth Lacy (Erie/Harborcreek) combined for the shutout on senior day.

Next on the schedule for the blue and white will be two conference road games beginning at Medaille on October 21 and then on October 24 when they travel to Mount Aloysius.  With the win, Behrend now improves to 10-2-3 overall and 6-0-1 in the AMCC.
