Box Score

ERIE, Pa. – Making their first-ever appearance in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tournament, the sixth-seeded Marywood women’s soccer team snuck past Penn State Behrend in overtime 1-0 to advance to the ECAC semifinals.

Senior defender Shannon Hresko blasted a shot from the right side and 25-yards out, just getting over goalie Robin Siegenthaler in the 94th minute to keep the Pacers (15-5-1) season alive and ending the Lions (13-7-1).

Marywood put the pressure on early in the contest. The Pacers their first corner kick seven minutes into the game and a Behrend defender made a team save on Olivia Habicht’s shot that narrowly crossed the goal line. Less than five minutes later, the Pacers forced the Lions to make another team save to keep it scoreless.

Behrend had its best scoring opportunity in the second half. The Lions were awarded a free kick just outside the 18-yard box and Valerie Wagner scored off the short pass but had it called back on an offside penalty.

Neither team would find the back of the net in regulation with Marywood holding a 14-13 edge in shots. Just 3:43 into the first overtime, Hresko scored the game winner from out of the back to be able to play one more game in her career.

Siegenthaler finished with four saves and the Pacers' goalie Meghan Coyle ended with five stops for the shut out.
