Lions Fall To Union at RIT Tournament

ROCHESTER, NY – The Union women's soccer team scored a goal in each half to defeat Penn State Behrend 2-0 on the second day of the Rachel Miller Classic held at RIT on Saturday.

The Lions (1-1) finished the tournament with a 1-1 record after defeating RIT yesterday, 2-1. The Dutchwomen (2-0) remain undefeated on the season thanks to a 4-0 win over No. 13 Oneonta on Saturday.

Mollie Gilchrist and Melissa Mansfield each took four shots on the day and each found the back of the net for Union. Gilchrist put the Dutchwomen on the scoreboard with an unassisted marker in the 33rd minute.

Mansfield put Union ahead at the 66:51 mark for a 2-0 lead that would prove to be final score.

Goalie Robin Siegenthaler (Penns Valley, PA/Penns Valley) made three saves in her first start in the net in 2011. Mia Simone also made two stops for the Dutchwomen.

Behrend returns to action tomorrow against Baldwin-Wallace for its home opener at Family First Sports Park. Game time is 4 p.m.
