NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Valerie Wagner (Pittsburgh, PA/Montour) scored the game-winning goal in the 55th minute to lead the Penn State Behrend women's soccer team to a 1-0 decision over Westminster on Saturday afternoon.
The victory marks the Lions' (4-3) second straight for their first winning streak of the season. Sam Vasy (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) assisted Wagner on her third goal in two games. Westminster was stopped short of its first win. The Titans (0-3-1) held a 10-7 shot advantage, while Behrend took a 9-7 edge in corner kicks.
After a scoreless first half, Vasy found Wagner at the 54:45 mark to go ahead 1-0 and the defense helped keep Westminster off the board.
