Women's Soccer Shuts Out La Roche in AMCC Action

ERIE, Pa. – Robin Siegenthaler (Penns Valley, PA/Penns Valley) recorded her first shut out of the season, while Heather Klimuszka (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) scored the game-winning goal to lead Penn State Behrend past La Roche 1-0 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) women's soccer action on Saturday.

The Lions (5-3-1, 1-0 AMCC) picked up their first conference victory of the season, while handing the Redhawks (2-3-3, 0-1 AMCC) their third overall loss and first in the AMCC.

Behrend outplayed the La Roche in both the first and second half, firing out six shots in each stanza. With opportunities arising to score, Klimuszka came off the bench and scored on one of two shots taken for the game winner.

In the 76th minute, the offensive efforts paid off when Sam Vasy (North Hungtindon, PA/Norwin) sent a ball through to Klimuszka who blasted a shot into the left-inside panel of the goal for a 1-0 lead that would stand.

The defense held the Redhawks to just three shots, leaving Siegenthaler to making just one save. Ralene Zajac tallied eight saves for La Roche.

Behrend returns to action on Tuesday night at Medaille. Game time is set for 8:30 p.m.
