Altoona Too Much For Women's Soccer

ALTOONA, Pa. – Elizabeth Watt tallied a goal and an assist to lead Penn State Altoona over Penn State Behrend 3-1 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Saturday afternoon.

Altoona (10-4-2, 6-0-1 AMCC) handed the Lions (8-6-1, 4-2 AMCC) their second straight conference loss, while keeping a perfect AMCC mark with the win. Emily Lewis (Washington, PA/Bishop Canevin) scored the lone goal for Behrend in the first half.

Altoona struck first with a goal in the 14th minute thanks to Meredith Waters off an assist from Elizabeth Watt. The Lions managed to even the score when Erin McCreary (Pittsburgh, PA/Seton-La Salle) found Lewis at the 22:27 mark to make it 1-all.

It only took 32 seconds later for Altoona to take the lead back. Watt scored her only goal on a pass from Erin Weidl to regain the one-goal lead.

Altoona added an insurance goal in the 71st minute when Nicole Zambelli finished a ball from Meredith Barcia and Allysia Ketchem.

Heather Klimuszka (Rochester, NY/Greece-Athena) made three saves on nine shots, while Linsday Raspanti tallied two saves on the Lions' four shots taken.

Behrend returns to action on Wednesday against Hilbert at Family First Sports Park. Game time is 3 p.m.
