Baldwin Wallace Defeats Lions to Capture Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament

ERIE, Pa. – Lindsey Cooper scored a pair of goals to lead the Baldwin Wallace women's soccer team to a 3-0 win over Penn State Behrend to capture the 2012 Herb Lauffer Memorial Soccer Tournament on Sunday.

Cooper netted back-to-back goals and Ashley Stevens made it 3-0, while Kayla Losco was named the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament for the Yellow Jackets (2-0).

Freshman netminder Taylor Troyan (Butler, PA/Butler) made six saves for the Lions (0-2), who were stopped from getting their first win over opening weekend.

Cooper opened the scoring in the first 10 minutes of the game with a header off a direct kick from Emily Sanders. That goal would hold up until the 61st minute when Cooper gathered the ball off of Behrend's defensive clear and blast her shot from 15 yards out for the unassisted tally, giving Baldwin Wallace a 2-0 lead.

The third goal came at the 82:13 mark but in similar fashion to the second. The Yellow Jackets won the ball back in their attacking box and Cheryl Bell found Stevens for a direct shot for the insurance goal.

Emily Tallmadge earned her second win in goal for Baldwin Wallace, not needing to make any saves on the day.

Behrend returns to action on Saturday at the Carnegie Mellon Tournament. The Lions will face Frostburg State at 2 p.m.
