ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's soccer team won their fourth straight shut-out victory, defeating Washington & Jefferson 2-0 in non-conference action on a rainy Sunday afternoon.

The Lions (6-7) tallied a goal in each half to hold off the Presidents (6-5-1). Julia Schroeck (Fairview, PA/Fairview) and Sam Vasy (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) each scored a goal, while Valerie Wagner (Pittsburgh, PA/Montour) earned the assist on both to mark her fifth straight assist in two games. The senior also had every assist in yesterday's 3-0 win over Pitt-Greensburg.

Taylor Troyan (Butler, PA/Butler) and the defense kept W&J off the board, making three saves on seven shots for the shut out. Mattie Follen had one save in the loss for the Presidents.

Schroeck continued her dominance up top for Lions, scoring on a diving header in the 23rd minute thanks to a perfectly placed cross by Wagner. The goal marked the third straight for the senior forward. Schroeck netted back-to-back goals in the second half against the Bobcats.

Despite the non-stop rain and chill in the air, Behrend kept its composure and connecting passes including the one from Wagner to Vasy for a 2-0 lead. Wagner played a long ball into Vasy, who touched the ball past the defender to create a one-on-one situation with the goalie. The junior tucked the ball past Follen from just a few feet out from the endline to score her fifth goal of the season at the 72:47 mark.

With under 20 minutes to play, the defense clamped down to secure the win and not let up a goal in four consecutive contests.

The Lions return to action on Thursday against Houghton. Game time 4 p.m.
