Foy Connects Again in 1-0 Victory; Lions Advance to AMCC Championship Game

ERIE, Pa. – Emily Foy (Frewsburg, NY/Frewsburg) scored on her first shot just 3:13 into the game to lead No. 1 Penn State Behrend past fourth-seeded D'Youville 1-0 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Semifinals on Wednesday afternoon.

Foy has been clutch in the last four games, netting three game-winning goals including the one today to send the Lions (11-8) into the conference championship game. Behrend will face No. 2 Pitt-Bradford at home on Saturday. The Panthers won 3-1 in penalty kicks over No. 6 La Roche in the second semifinal game.

The freshman helped the Lions avenge a one-goal loss to the Spartans (11-6-1) earlier in the season with the early goal that proved to stand the entire 90 minutes.

The Lions came out ready to get revenge for the only conference loss they faced by getting the first and only goal in the opening minutes. Melissa Huff (Center, PA/Central Valley) gathered the ball from the midfield and split the D'Youville defense to find the feet of Foy.

Foy took two dribbles and sent her shot over Christina Ventresca, the current AMCC Defender of the Week, with less than four minutes into the first half.

Behrend had 13 other opportunities to score, especially late in the second half when Lauren Truxal (Latrobe, PA/Greater Latrobe) sent her shot wide along with two shots by Valerie Wagner (Pittsburgh, PA/Montour) that just missed the target.

The Lions return to action on Saturday in the AMCC Finals against Pitt-Bradford at 12 p.m.
