Monte, Huff Named AMCC Players of the Week
Sophomore Madelynn Monte and freshman Melissa Huff were named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Women’s Soccer Players of the Week.
ERIE, Pa. – Sophomore Madelynn Monte (Beaver, PA/Beaver) and freshman Melissa Huff (Centre, PA/Central Valley) were named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Women's Soccer Players of the Week.
Monte earned Defensive Player of the Week for being the backbone of the Lions' defense and helping Behrend earn their eighth shutout in a 1-0 semifinal win over D'Youville. She followed this performance by holding Pitt-Bradford to one first-half goal and then scoreless the remaining 83 minutes of the game to help the Lions win the AMCC Championship.
Huff was instrumental in two crucial goals scored during the AMCC Tournament. She netted the game winner in the second overtime in the championship game and also assisted the game winner in the semifinals.
Behrend returns to action on Saturday against William Smith in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. Game time is 11 a.m.
