Women's Soccer Soars Past La Roche

ERIE, Pa. – Alex Bilka (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) scored a pair of goals for the second straight game to lead Penn State Behrend past La Roche 3-0 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) women's soccer action on Saturday.

Lauren Truxal (Latrobe, PA/Greater Latrobe) sandwiched her first goal of the season in between Bilka's to complete the scoring for the Lions (7-4-1, 3-0 AMCC). Taylor Troyan (Butler, PA/Butler) and Christina Winarski (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) combined time in the net for the shutout, marking the fifth consecutive contest Behrend has not surrendered a goal to the Redhawks (2-9, 0-3 AMCC).

Allyson Lonas (Johnstown, PA/Conemaugh Township) registered an assists on both goals in the first half. On the first goal in the 34th minute, Lonas sent a ball into the box for a charging Bilka, who sent a long shot past Maria DiPerna.

Less than 10 minutes later, Lonas made a cross from the right side to the top box to find Truxal for the 2-0 lead heading into halftime.

Bilka added an insurance goal in the 60th minute off a pass from Sam Pace (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf). Pace beat the defender to the endline and sent a driving parallel cross and Bilka poked her second goal in from a few feet away for a 3-0 cushion.

La Roche had opportunities to score, but Abbie Schuster (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) had a team save off Amanda Treser's shot with 6:46 gone in the first half. The Redhawks also had two shots hit the post in the final 20 minutes of the game.

The Lions return to action on Tuesday at Medaille. Game begins at 7 p.m.
