Vasy, Mueller Shine on Senior Day; Lions Blank Mounties

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's soccer team earned their sixth Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) win with a 5-0 victory over Mt. Aloysius on Saturday afternoon.

Sam Vasy (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) and Rachel Mueller (Shaler, PA/Shaler) made it a memorable senior day. Vasy registered two goals and an assist, while Mueller did not allow the Mounties (6-8, 2-4 AMCC) take a shot while helping the Lions' (10-5-1, 6-0 AMCC) defense post their sixth shutout.

Vasy netted her two goals in the first half. Alex Bilka (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) beat the defender on the far side and passed the ball in front of the net for Vasy at the 15:12 mark. She then recorded an unassisted tally seven minutes later for a 2-0 lead at halftime.

Sam Pace (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) gave Behrend a 3-0 lead in the 59th minute, before Vasy returned the favor to Bilka off a quick pass which led to a shot into the upper corner.

Erin O'Toole (Pittsburgh, PA/Montour) dished out her first collegiate assist on the Lions' final goal by Emily Foy (Frewsburg, NY/Frewsburg), a low shot into the back of the net.

Behrend blasted 25 shots in the 90 minutes, making Zara Apakoh make seven saves for Mt. Aloysius.

The Lions return to action on Wednesday at Pitt-Bradford. Game begins at 3 p.m.
