Second Half Lifts Pitt-Bradford Past Behrend

ERIE, Pa.  – The Pitt-Bradford women's soccer team scored three second half goals to hold off Penn State Behrend 3-1 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Wednesday afternoon.

The Panthers (9-4, 3-1 AMCC) waited until the final 45 minutes to get on the board, including two goals in a five-minute span, to defeat the Lions (8-4-1, 2-2 AMCC) for the first time since 2011.

Freshman Jordan Oberlander (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) tallied her fourth goal of the season in the 13th minute for Behrend. She headed the ball into the goal after Olivia Belack's (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) original shot bounced off the inside of the top post and out for a 1-0 early lead.

Behrend held off Pitt-Bradford for the remainder of the first half.

Four minutes into the second half, Casey Schimpf sent a floating shot from the top of the box into the net off a pass from Sarah Turner to knot the game at 1-all. Nearly five minutes later, Maggie Boehler scored the eventual game winner all by herself after intercepting a pass and sending with a low shot past Taylor Troyan (Butler, PA/Butler).

The Lions held AMCC leading scorer Melissa Smith without a goal until 40 seconds left in the game. She finished the ball in a wide open net to make it 3-1.

The Panthers scored three shots on nine goals, while Troyan made one save for Behrend.

The Lions return to action on Saturday at La Roche. Game time is 1 p.m.
