ERIE, Pa. – Olivia Belack (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) scored a pair of goals to lead the Penn State Behrend women's soccer team past La Roche 4-0 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Saturday.
Belack netted the first two goals for the Lions (9-4-1, 3-2 AMCC) followed by a goal from Shelby Lloyd (Beaver, PA/Beaver) and Alex Bilka (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley), all in the second half. Behrend fired off 16 shots in the first half, but found the back of the net on four of the 14 shots in the final 45 minutes.
Taylor Troyan (Butler, PA/Butler) earned her third shut out behind five saves.
Shortly after the second-half whistle blew, Belack got Behrend on the board. Rachel Weyand took a low corner kick and Belack took a one-touch shot that made its way through the defense and into the left corner for a 1-0 lead at the 48th minute.
Belack made it 2-0 approximately 20 minutes later with a hard shot from the right that went through Christine Chiodo's hands.
In the 81st minute, Weyan tallied her second assist on Lloyd's rocket shot from another corner kick. Two minutes later, Leah Morra (Pittsburgh, PA/North Hills) found Bilka from 30 yards out for the final goal and a 4-0 margin.
Chiodo was instrumental in keeping Behrend scoreless in the first half, ending with 10 saves on the day.
The Lions return to action on Tuesday against Medaille. Game time is 5 p.m.
