Oberlander, Belack Lead Lions Past Medaille

ERIE, Pa.  – Jordan Oberlander (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) scored two goals and Olivia Belack (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) added another to lead Penn State Behrend women's soccer team past Medaille 3-0 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Tuesday.

All three goals by the Lions (10-4-1, 4-2 AMCC) were scored in the first half. Oberlander netted the first two within 10 minutes of each other, before Belack got taken down in the box and converted her penalty kick to give Behrend its sixth straight win over the Mavericks (4-8, 3-2 AMCC).

Taylor Troyan (Butler, PA/Butler) made two saves for her third shutout of the season to lower her conference-leading goals-against average to 0.88.

Just 4:47 into the game, Oberlander headed the ball past Morgan Howe off a direct kick taken by Allyson Lonas (Johnstown, PA/Conemaugh Township) to spark the early scoring. She struck again after Belack sent a ball in from the right side and Oberlander had a one-touch shot find the back of the net for a 2-0 lead in the 16th minute.

The Lions had a 3-0 lead by the time the clock read 19:15 left in the first half. Belack buried her penalty kick into the left corner for the insurance goal.

Behrend held Medaille to six shots total and only two in the second half.

Belack has recorded at least one point in the last five out of six games for the Lions.

Behrend returns to action on Friday against Pitt-Greensburg for senior day. Game time is 5 p.m.
