Lonas Leads Lions Past Pitt-Greensburg

ERIE, Pa. – Allyson Lonas (Johnstown, PA/Conemaugh Township) netted her first collegiate hat trick and added an assist to lead Penn State Behrend past Pitt-Greensburg 4-0 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) on Friday night.

Lonas scored the first two goals of the contest, including the game winner to help the Lions (11-4-1, 5-2 AMCC) post their ninth straight victory over the Bobcats (7-7-1, 3-3-1 AMCC). The win also marks the third consecutive conference shut out for Behrend.

Amanda Donohue (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) scored the third goal of the first half for the Lions on a pass from Lonas.

Shannon Edwards made 13 saves in goal for Pitt-Greensburg.

Behrend, who has held lopsided stats in shots per game against opponents, did it again tonight with a 29-3 advantage. Lonas tallied her first goal in the 15th minute on a rebound shot after Alex Bilka (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) blasted a shot off the post and back out into the box. Olivia Belack (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) was there to help get Lonas the ball for a 1-0 lead.

At the 36:49 mark, Lonas got her second goal with a floating shot from the left side and over Edwards for a 2-0 edge. Donohue made it a three-goal game just before halftime with a shot from inside the box off a ball played from Lonas.

The hat trick was complete in the 65th minute on a nice string of passes, starting with Bilka to Gionna Fonseca (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) to eventually Lonas' feet for a shot from the middle of the box and a 4-0 margin.

Taylor Troyan (Butler, PA/Butler) made two saves for the shutout.

The Lions return to action on Wednesday at D'Youville. Game time is 5 p.m.
