Women's Soccer Falls to Brandeis in NCAA Tournament

DALLAS, Pa. – The Brandeis women's soccer team scored a goal in each half to advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament with a 2-0 victory over Penn State Behrend on Saturday night at Misericordia University.

Cidney Moscovitch scored an unassisted tally to get the Judges (13-4-2) on the board in the 18th minute of the first half, before Holly Szafran knocked in an insurance goal off a direct kick at the 58:08 mark to keep their season alive.

Junior goalie Taylor Troyan (Butler, PA/Butler) made seven saves on the night, while the Lions (16-6-1) managed a pair of shots, one from Alex Bilka (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) and another from Shelby Lloyd (Beaver, PA/Beaver).

Moscovitch made it a 1-0 lead on her own, taking the ball down the near side and finishing in the far left post. Szafaran's goal hit off the crossbar and took the lucky bounce in and over the line for the final margin.

The Judges fired off 21 shots and held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Behrend finishes with 16 wins, tying the program record for most wins in a season.
