ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Behrend women's soccer senior Maddie Monte (Beaver, PA/Beaver) and junior goalie Taylor Troyan (Butler, PA/Butler) have been named to the 2014 NSCAA Women's College Scholar All-East Region Honorable Mention Team.
Monte is earning the honor for the second straight season. The four-time AMCC All-Academic and two-time All-Conference selection, posted a fall grade-point average (GPA) of 3.67. Monte, a co-captain and All-AMCC first-team choice this year, helped the defense post nine shutouts while holding opponents to just 20 goals. She is majoring in interdisciplinary business with engineering studies and is a member of Lambda Sigma Honor Society.
Troyan, a nursing major, earned a 3.51 (GPA) for the 2014 fall semester. This season on the field, she led Behrend and the conference with a 0.93 goals-against average and seven shutouts. Troyan posted a 16-6-1 record in the net while making 69 saves. Off the field, she is the representative for the Student Athletic Advisory Committee.
