ERIE, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend women's soccer team is still searching for their first win of the season after falling to Houghton 2-0 in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon.

Sarah Gabriele had a hand in the Highlanders (1-1) two goals, first an assist on the game winner and then scoring an insurance goal in the second half to get the win in their home opener.

Taylor Troyan (Butler, PA/Butler) made 12 saves for the Lions (0-3). She weathered 18 shots by Houghton, while Behrend fired off eight in the 90 minutes.

Gabriele started the scoring for the Highlanders in the 32nd minute. She played a through ball between the defenders to find Bailey Shattell, who buried her shot for a 1-0 lead.

Houghton added another goal at the 65:49 mark on a free kick right outside the box by Gabriele to make a final 2-0.

The Highlanders had a chance to get ahold of a 2-0 lead in the second half but the Lions managed a team save by the defense on a shot by Tori Sperl.

Behrend returns to action on Friday at the Fredonia Tournament on Friday. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
