Six Second-Half Goals Ignite Lions Over Hilbert

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's soccer team had six different players score in the second half to defeat Hilbert 7-0 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on a rainy Tuesday night.

The Lions (5-5, 2-0 AMCC) have now combined for 12 goals in the past two games to record their second straight conference win. Alex Bilka (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) scored two goals and dished out one assist for a game-high five points.

Olivia Belack (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) was second on the team with four points, recorded one goal and two assists while Taylor Troyan (Butler, PA/Butler) only had to make two stops for her first shutout of the season.

The Lions took a small lead in the first half, getting one of their 19 shots to go in by Bilka from Belack. From the right side, Belack sent a ball into the box and Bilka had a one-touch shot into the left netting for a 1-0 lead after the opening 45 minutes.

Behrend's offense ignited in the second half. The first two goals for the Lions were scored 43 seconds apart. Bilka returned the favor in the 54th minute and then Belack assisted Jordan Oberlander (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBeouf) quickly off the restart for a 3-0 lead. Oberlander gathered the ball and send a long ball over Kaitlyn Layman.

Bilka made it 4-0 after a pass down the middle from Catherine Eichenlaub (Wexford, PA/Pine-Richland) at the 65:03 mark.

The next three goals were tallied in the final 10 minutes of the game. Laura Schaefer (Erie, PA/General McLane) chipped a long ball over the goalie for an unassisted tally from the middle in the 82nd minute for her first collegiate goal.

Three minutes later, McKenna Aleksivich (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield) buried a direct kick into the lower left corner, skipping the ball on the wet turf past Layman for a 6-0 lead.

Caitlin Caldwell (Belle Vernon, PA/Belle Vernon) netted the final goal of the night off rebounded shot that hit the top of the crossbar taken by Tessa Munshower (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield) with 20 seconds left to play.
