Pitt-Bradford Edges Women's Soccer

BRADFORD, Pa.- Kaitlyn Donnelly had a hand in each goal, scoring and then assisting on the game winner to lead Pitt-Bradford over Penn State Behrend 2-1 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) women's soccer action on Wednesday afternoon.

In a rematch of last year's AMCC Championship game, the Panthers (6-6, 4-0 AMCC) avenged a one-goal overtime decision to hand the Lions (6-6, 3-1) their first conference loss of the season and remain in the driver's seat in the AMCC standings.

Megan Schwartz (Shaler, PA/Shaler) netted the lone goal for Behrend, while Taylor Troyan (Butler, PA/Butler) made one save in between the pipes.

Donnelly put Pitt-Bradford on the board first with an unassisted tally in the 33rd minute. She sent a ball past Troyan from the corner of the box for a 1-0 lead.

The Lions had a goal that was called offsides, but Schwartz got revenge when she headed in a ball off a cross from Alex Bilka (Cranberry Township, PA/Cranberry Township) at the 39:21 mark to even the score before halftime.

Maggie Boehler scored the game winner 11 minutes after the second-stanza kickoff on deflection from Donnelly for a 2-1 final.

Behrend, who held a 14-6 advantage in shots, could not find the equalizer in the final 30 minutes of play to keep an unblemished conference mark.

The Lions return to action on Saturday against La Roche. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
