Pitt-Greensburg Holds Off Women's Soccer

GREENSBURG, Pa. – Freshman Kayleen Schwegler scored her Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC)-leading 13th goal of the season and the game winner in the 65th minute to lead Pitt-Greensburg past Penn State Behrend women's soccer team 1-0 in conference action on Saturday.

The Bobcats (6-6-2, 5-1-1 AMCC) tallied the only goal of the game in the second half, snapping a 10-game losing streak to the Lions (8-7, 5-2 AMCC) and moving into second place in the conference standings.

Schwegler broke up nearly 64 minutes of scoreless soccer by finding the back of the net off a rebounded shot that first hit the post by Brianna Burgunder.

With 25 minutes left to find the equalizer, Behrend rattled off six more shots with two being saved by Shannon Edwards and four going wide of the goal.

The Lions managed to post an 18-10 shot advantage and Taylor Troyan (Butler, PA/Butler) made four saves in between the pipes.

Behrend returns to action on Wednesday against D'Youville. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
