Women's Soccer Earns Sixth Conference Win

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's soccer team recorded their sixth conference win with a 3-0 shutout over D'Youville on Wednesday night.

The Lions (9-7, 6-2 AMCC) added two goals in the second half to the one that put them ahead for good in the first half to post their fourth straight shutout over the Spartans (8-6, 4-3 AMCC). Rachel Weyand (Butler, PA/Butler) tallied the eventual game winner in the 34th minute on an assist from Megan Schwartz (Shaler, PA/Shaler).

Taylor Troyan (Butler, PA/Butler) had two saves for her ninth win in goal and second shutout of the season.

After dominating the first 33 minutes of the game, Weyand got Behrend on the board with a bending shot from the left side that found the right-side netting off a parallel pass by Schwartz.

The Lions did not let the playing against the wind in the second half affect their game. The defense held D'Youville to three total shots and the offense scored two more goals on 10 attempts for the three-goal margin.

Catherine Eichenlaub (Wexford, PA/Pine-Richland) registered her first collegiate goal at the 69:07 mark for a 2-0 lead. Jordan Oberlander (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) tipped the ball to Eichenlaub amongst a scramble in the box off a corner kick taken by Olivia Belack (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair).

Behrend continued to press and get its final goal thanks to Laura Schaefer (Erie, PA/General McLane). The freshman ripped a long shot from the top of the 18 over Megan Dulniak in the 77th minute.

Dulniak finished with eight saves for the Spartans.

The Lions return to action on Saturday against Mt. Aloysius for senior day. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
