Women's Soccer "Goals For a Cause" Raises Money for Grady's Decision

ERIE, Pa. – This fall, the Penn State Behrend women's soccer team created a goal-matching project to raise money for the local non-profit organization Grady's Decision. The project was called "Goals for a Cause" and donors pledged money for each goal the squad scored in 2015.

Sophomore McKenna Aleksivich (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield) came up with the idea for the project and set up a website to receive donations. The Lions, who have averaged 60 goals a season over the last there years, tallied 62 goals in the fall. Aleksivich kept the total a secret until the banquet on Saturday afternoon where the final amount was announced.

As a team, Behrend set a goal to raise $3,000 and exceeded those expectations with the amount of $4,501.30 for Grady's Decision. This is the fourth largest donation the organization has ever received.
Grady's Decision was created to present a glimpse of God's love to families experiencing premature births as well as those families with children needing specialized medical attention. It can assist with parking costs, food, housing near hospitals and transportation needs. Ultimately, the organization meets the needs of families whether they be financial, emotional or spiritual.

The Lions will also be visiting some of the local hospitals in the next few weeks to give gifts to those families and children.
