Wheels Up for Women's Soccer to Europe

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's soccer team will embark on a nine-day/eight-night international excursion to four European cities from May 13-21, 2016. This will be the fifth international trip the women's soccer team has taken, with previous trips to England/Ireland (1998), Ireland (2004), Italy (2008), and Brazil (2012).

The Behrend Lions trip has been coordinated by Global Affinity Tours, LLC., and will include two friendly games. The travel party consisting of 20 players, head coach Patrick O'Driscoll and assistant coach Candace Hatcher, will first tour Reykjavik, Iceland before heading to Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The next stop includes Bruges, Belgium before ending in Paris, France.

The trip provides a great opportunity for student athletes to view and experience a different culture.  Highlights of the trip include visiting the Blue Lagoon, a geothermal freshwater/seawater spa in Reykjavik and taking a private canal tour of Amsterdam.

Members of the women's soccer team will "blog" about their experiences, which can be viewed at psblions.com along with Facebook and Twitter.

Behrend is coming of a 13-8 season in which they captured their fifth straight Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship and earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament.
