Women's Soccer Defeats Westminster

ERIE, Pa. – Olivia Belack (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) and Nicole Evans (South Park, PA/South Park) each registered first-half goals to lead Penn State Behrend past Westminster 2-1 in non-conference women's soccer action on Sunday night.

Belack netted her team-leading seventh goal of the season, while Evans made it her second straight game for finding the back of the net to help the Lions (4-3) hold off the Titans (3-3-2).

Westminster added a goal from Kaelyn Puhalla with 1:59 remaining in the game, scoring on the only good chance taken for a 2-1 margin.

Belack struck first and early. She took the ball down the middle and angled her left-footed shot to hit the inside post at the 4:59 mark for a 1-0 lead.

Evans came off the bench in the 29th minute and 44 seconds later she scored when the ball was deflected off her and almost past goalie Laura Page, who was gathered the ball but was over the goal line to make it 2-0.

Behrend held a 19-4 shot advantage, including 12-3 in the second half where the Titans got one of those three shots to go in with less than two minutes left.

The Lions return to action on Wednesday at Grove City. Game time is 4 p.m.
