Lions Shut Out Hilbert in AMCC Action

HAMBURG, NY – Olivia Belack (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) and Alex Bilka (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) each scored two goals to help the Penn State Behrend women's soccer team defeat Hilbert 6-0 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Tuesday.

With the win, the Lions (10-4, 5-0 AMCC) have tallied their 13th victory over the Hawks including their 11th shutout since the all-time series began in 2003. Megan Schwartz (Shaler, PA/Shaler) and McKenna Aleksivich (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield) also tallied a goal in the win.

Belack was the first one to connect with the back of the net with a shot from the right side of the box to the far post on a pass from Jordan Oberlander (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) at the 19:58 mark.

Bilka made it 2-0 when she cut in on the left and shot from outside the top corner of the box to the near post to close out the first-half scoring. The senior made it two in a row in the 69th minute of the second stanza. Belack beat the outside defender down the line and centered the ball across the box to Bilka, who tapped it in an open net for a three-goal lead.

Schwartz sent a chip shot over goalie Jenna Castricone far post and into the side panel from 20 yards out, before Belack scored again off a header from a corner kick taken by defender Caitlin Caldwell (Belle Vernon, PA/Belle Vernon) to stretch the lead to 5-0 with 15 minutes left to play.

Aleksivich tallied her third goal of the season with a last second goal thanks to Ashlyn Whipple's (Washington, PA/Canon McMillan) first collegiate assist.

Mackenzie Troyan (Butler, PA/Butler) got the win in goal, facing three shots and making one save. Behrend blasted 36 shots and had 10 corner kicks in its fifth conference win.

The Lions return to action on Saturday at Franciscan. Game time is 1 p.m.
