Women's Soccer Edges Houghton in Double Overtime

HOUGHTON, NY – Jordan Oberlander (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) scored the game-winning goal in double overtime to lead the Penn State Behrend women's soccer team past Houghton 1-0 on Tuesday night.

Oberlander tallied her third game winner and team-leading 18th goal of the season to help the Lions (8-4) post their fourth straight shut-out victory. The senior forward has an eight-game scoring streak and after tonight ranks second in NCAA Division III statistics in total goals.

Cassidy Ulanowicz (Gibsonia, PA/Pine-Richland) tallied the assist on Oberlander's goal in the 104th minute.

Behrend outshot the Highlanders (3-5-1) 20-10, holding a 2-1 advantage in overtime with the last shot proving to be the difference. Without taking shot in the first overtime, the Lions got one from Olivia Belack (Upper St. Clair, PA/Upper St. Clair) at the 101:16 mark that went wide. Two minutes later, Oberlander tallied the lone goal of the day for the game winner.

Ania Gorski (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek) made six saves for her fifth shut-out win and eighth overall.

Behrend returns to action on Saturday at Penn State Altoona. Game time is 3:15 p.m.
