McGuire Headlines All-AMCC Women's Soccer Team

ERIE, Pa. – Freshman forward Brenna McGuire (McDonald, PA/South Fayette) has been named the 2018 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Player and Newcomer of the Year, while eight members were named All-Conference.

McGuire, sophomores Emily Indof (Greensburg, PA/Greensburg) and Taylor Mealie (Baden, PA/Ambridge), senior Laura Schaefer (Erie, PA/General McLane) and freshman Ava Michael (State College, PA/State College) were selected to the All-AMCC first team. Junior Catherine Eichenlaub (Wexford, PA/Pine-Richland) was chosen to the second team and junior Lydia McCaleb (Loganton, PA/Central Mountain) and freshman Madi Jones (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield) made the third team.

McGuire headlines the AMCC honors after leading the conference in goals (13), points (29) and points per game (3.22). She finished the regular season ranked sixth with three assists in nine conference games. She registered three game-winning goals and recorded six multiple-goal games this season. McGuire led the AMCC overall with 18 goals and five assists for 41 points, while starting in every game. She was named the ECAC Rookie of the Month for her standout play in the month of October. 

Indof was recognized on the All-Conference first team for ranking second in conference games with 11 goals and five assists for 27 points. The sophomore had three goals and two assists for eight points against  La Roche this season, while scoring two game winners. Overall, Indof was second on the team and the AMCC with 13 goals and six assists for 32 points.

Schaefer is earning her second All-Conference nod, this time on the second team after being selected to the third team a year ago. The core of the midfield, the senior and captain started every game this season. Schaefer tallied two goals and four assists for eight points

Michael and Mealie are being recognized on the All-Conference team for the first time. The duo anchored the defense that posted a 0.22 goals-against average (GAA) through nine conference games. They were instrumental in outscoring opponents 40-2 in the AMCC and posting eight shutouts. Michael started every game during her freshman campaign, while Mealie started in 17 of the 19 games. Overall, the pair helped the Lions earn a 0.76 GAA and earn 12 shut outs during the regular season.

Catherine Eichenlaub was the lone Behrend soccer player chosen to the second team for her second All-Conference accolade. Playing in the defensive midfield position, the junior tallied one goal and two assists for four points. She started every game and provided leadership to the defense that only allowed two goals in AMCC play.

McCaleb and Jones join Michael and Mealie as the defensive core of the team. McCaleb and Jones were selected to the third team for their first All-AMCC honors.  McCaleb made her way into the starting lineup midway through the season and Jones was the starting goalkeeper in all 19 games. The duo secured the Lions undefeated season in AMCC play and allowing just two goals. Jones posted a .875 save percentage and made 14 saves with four shutouts in nine conference contests. Overall, Jones posted a 13-6 record and recorded 44 saves and eight shutouts.
