Three Behrend Student-Athletes Garner Conference Weekly Awards
A trio of Penn State Behrend student-athletes earned Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Athletes of the Week in their respective sports for the week of October 14-20.
ERIE, Pa. – A trio of Penn State Behrend student-athletes earned Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Athletes of the Week in their respective sports for the week of October 14-20.
Senior Trinity Prestash (Philipsburg, PA/West Branch) was named Offensive Player of the Week after averaging 2.5 goals per game in a 2-0 week for the Behrend women's soccer team. Prestash tied a career-high with four goals in a win at Alfred State and then netted the eventual game-winner in a 5-0 decision at Penn State Altoona. She has 58 career goals and is eight away from breaking the program record.
Women's swimmer Kallie Smith (Oil City, PA/Oil City) notched Swimmer of the Week, finishing with three freshman top-10 times on Saturday at Brockport. Smith delivered a second-place finish on the day, touching the wall in a time of 2:04.25 in the 200 free before coming in third in the 100 free (55.99).
Lucas Boyd (North East, PA/North East) ran the fastest conference time of the year to lead the Lions in the Aubrey Shenk Invite at Gettysburg College to register Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week. Boyd claimed 45th out of 226 competitors with a mark of 26:49.2 on the 8k course.
The women's soccer team is back in action at St. John Fisher this Wednesday. On Saturday, Nov. 2, the cross country teams compete at the AMCC Championships and the swimming and diving teams travel to Pitt-Bradford.
