Behrend Slips To St. Vincent

LATROBE, Pa.  – The Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team dropped a 147-101 decision to St. Vincent in non-conference action on Saturday. The Lions won the first four out of six events, but could not hold on for the win.

Anne Lawrence, Julie Cook, Rachael Ragen and Hilary MacManus opened the meet with a winning time of 1:58.57 in the 200 yard medley relay.

Ragen tallied an individual win in the next event, touching in 11:23.37 in the 1,000 free. She also won the 100 butterfly in 1:02.28. Lawrence came in second with a time of 1:05.51 in the 100 fly, before winning the 200 fly (2:26.62) and also taking second in the 200 IM (2:27.08).

In the 100 back, MaryEllen Spooner and Meghan Stefanko took first and second place, respectively. Spooner tallied the top time of 1:06.88, while Stefanko touched in 1:08.77. Spooner also won the 200 backstroke for her second individual victory of the day. Once again, she beat her own teammate Stefanko with a time of 2:25.81 – 2:27.26.

The Lions return to action on Monday against Gannon in the Junker Center. Meet time is 6 p.m.
