Gannon Swims Past Behrend

ERIE, Pa. – Katie Van Epps and Julie Cook each won an individual event for the Behrend women's swimming and diving team in a 122-59 loss to Division II Gannon on Monday night in the Junker Center Pool.

Van Epps won the 500 free to earn nine points for the Lions with a season-best time of 5:52.48. Julie Cook and Julia Pfund were No. 1 and 2 in the 100 breaststroke, respectively. Cooked touched in 1:14.06 and Pfund had a time of 1:23.44.

In the final event of the meet, Behrend had both relay teams take the top two spots. Rachael Ragen , Hilary MacManus, Anne Lawrence and Van Epps were first in the a time of 1:45.46. The next set of four consisting of Meghan Stefanko, MaryEllen Spooner, Pfund and Cook were second in 1:54.54.

Ragen had the closest race in the 100 free, taking second with a time of 55.70 and barely beating the winner Jackie Rzymek of Gannon (54.19).

Behrend returns to action on Dec. 3-5 at the Fredonia Invitational.
