Lions Finish Sixth at Fredonia State Invite

FREDONIA, NY – The Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team took finished in sixth place out of nine teams with a final score of 366 the Fredonia State Blue Devil Invite on Sunday.

Anne Lawrence and Rachel Ragen each earned third place in the 200 IM and the 100 butterfly, respectively.  Lawrence swam in a time of 2:22.19, while Ragen clocked in at 59.14 for the Lions.

Both relay teams were fifth on the day. The team of MaryEllen Spooner, Julie Cook, Katie Van Epps and Ragen posted a time of 1:55.96 in the 200 medley relay. The 400 free relay consisting of Van Epps, Ragen, Lawrence and Hilary MacManus combined for a time of 3:51.53.

After competing in the medley relay, Cook earned a fifth-place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:35.82). In the final individual event for Behrend, Meghan Stefanko was first on the team and sixth overall in the 200 backstroke (2:18.45).

The Lions are back in action on Saturday at Westminster. Meet time is 1 p.m.
