Lions Down Penn State Altoona

ALTOONA, Pa.  – Rachael Ragen and Anne Lawrence each recorded two individual wins and swam a leg on a winning relay team to Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team over Penn State Altoona 114-93 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Sunday afternoon.

Ragen won the 100 and 200 free, while Lawrence was first in the 200 IM and the 100 fly. Ragen set a time of 2:01.91 in the 200, before clocking in at 57.55 in the 100. She then finished the meet with a victory in the 400 free relay with Meghan Stefanko, Hilary MacManus and Katie Van Epps (4:02.71).

Lawrene got her relay win with MaryEllen Spooner, Julie Cook and Van Epps in the 400 medley relay (4:24.02). She touched first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:27.64. Lawrence's second win of the day came in the 100 fly in 1:05.43.

In addition to the relay wins, Spooner swam to a second place in the 1000 free (13:12.28) and Van Epps won the mini version of that race, touching in the 500 free. Spooner collected another second place in the 100 back (1:07.47).

Competing for the first time this year, Emily Frederick claimed first and third in the 3-meter and 1-meter diving events, respectively.

In the 100 breaststroke, Cook recorded a first-place finish with a time of 1:15.24. She also took third in the 50 free (28:04) because the top Behrend time belonged to MacManus with 27.29.

The Lions returns to action on Saturday against Washington & Jefferson. Meet time is 1 p.m.
