Washington & Jefferson Earns Win Over Behrend

ERIE, Pa.  – The Washington & Jefferson women's swimming and diving team proved to be too much for Penn State Behrend, winning 151.5-111.5 in non-conference action on Saturday in the Junker Center Pool.

Rachael Ragen won twice for the Lions, while Katie Van Epps, Anne Lawrence and Julie Cook each won an event.

Ragen was .23 seconds away from setting a new team record in the 200 freestyle, clocking in with a season-best time of 1:59.54 for first place. She also won the 100 butterfly in 1:00.47 and claimed second 50 free (25.78), just .40 seconds shy of her third first-place finish.

Lawrence was the winner in the 200 fly (2:25.42) and Van Epps followed with a time of 2:26.25 for second. Van Epps won the 400 IM in 5:08.01 and took another second place in the 100 free (57.82).

In diving competitions, newcomer Emily Frederick was fourth in the one-meter with a score of 156.55 and first in the three-meter with a 150.50 total for six dives.

The final points of the day were earned by Ragen, Cook, MacManus and Meghan Stefanko in the 400 free relay. The group finished in 3:56.38.
