Behrend Falls at Mt. Union

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Mt. Union swimming and diving team won 11 out of 16 events to defeat Penn State Behrend 169.5 – 96.5 in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

Rachael Ragen won twice, while Anne Lawrence and Katie Van Epps each recorded an individual win for the Lions. Ragen was the winner in the 100 free with a time of 56.21 and the 100 butterfly in 1:02.04. She was also second and the top finisher for Behrend in the 200 free (2:00.66).

Lawrence was the first winner on the day for the Lions, touching in 2:23.53 in the 200 butterfly. She also took second in the 100 butterfly in 1:03.83.

The 400 IM belonged to Van Epps in 5:12.07 and took second in the 500 free (6:01.58). Hilary MacManus tied for second in the 50 free with a time of 26.76, while Julie Cook was third in the 200 breaststroke (2:41.59).

Cook, Lawrence, MacManus and Meghan Stefanko made up the winning  200 free relay team with a time of 1:49.34 in the final event.  

The Lions return to action on Saturday against Edinboro. Meet time is 1 p.m.
