Edinboro Too Much For Lions; Ragen Breaks Butterfly Record

ERIE, Pa. – Rachael Ragen placed her name on the Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving record board for the fifth time this season with a first-place finish in the 200 butterfly to break the pool record and reset her team record with at time of 2:14.06 in the meet against Edinboro today in the Junker Center Pool.

Ragen also won the 100 free event in 56.04 for her second individual victory of the afternoon, despite the Fighting Scots pulling away with a commanding 160-90 win.

In the 200 IM, Anne Lawrence edged teammate Katie Van Epps for the win. Lawrence had a top time of 2:24.66 and Van Epps touched in 2:27.96.

MaryEllen Spooner was competitive in the backstroke events. Spooner took second in the 100 and 200 backstroke with times of 1:05.95 and 2:23.98, respectively. Meghan Stefanko claimed third in the 100 back (1:07.22) for Behrend.

Emily Frederick tallied a score of 118.60 on her first five dives on the 3-meter board and added 144.70 to her score on the next six dives for a total of 263.60.

Stefanko, Lawrence, Ragen and Julie Cook were all on the winning 400 free relay to end the meet. The foursome had a time of 4:03.46 to collect 11 points for the Lions.

Behrend returns to action at the AMCC Championships held at Grove City on February 17-19.
