Behrend Takes Fifth at Fredonia State Blue Devil Invite
The Penn State Behrend women’s swimming and diving team finished fifth out of nine teams with a team score of 386 on the final day of the Fredonia State Blue Devil Invitational on Sunday.
FREDONIA, NY – The Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team finished fifth out of nine teams with a team score of 386 on the final day of the Fredonia State Blue Devil Invitational on Sunday.
The opening 200 medley relay of Katie Siffrinn (Canonsburg, PA/Canon McMillan), Julie Cook (Warren, PA/Warren), Anne Lawrence (State College, PA/State College) and Hilary MacManus (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) tallied the highest finish on the day. The relay placed third with a time of 1:54.35.
Lawrence, Cook and Siffrinn had success individually. Lawrence took fourth in the 100 butterfly in 1:00.60, while Cook was fourth in the 200 breaststroke (2:35.00). Siffrinn led the Lions in the 100 backstroke. She touched in 1:02.89 for fourth place and MaryEllen Spooner (Lockhaven, PA/West Springfield) was tenths of a second behind for fifth overall (1:03.01).
After competing in the 1-meter diving yesterday, Meghan Wade (Berea, OH/Berea) tied for eighth in the three-meter board with a score of 304.10 for 11 dives.
The final relay consisted of MacManus, Lawrence, Spooner and Siffrinn. They ended the meet with a fifth-place finish in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:50.20.
Behrend returns to action on Saturday at home against Westminster. Meet begins at 1 p.m.
