Women's Swimming and Diving Splits AMCC Dual Meet

STEUNBENVILLE, Ohio  – The Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team split a Allehgeny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) dual meet, defeating Penn State Altoona  57-46 but falling by one point to Franciscan 56-55 on Friday evening.

MaryEllen Spooner (Lockhaven, PA/West Springfield) and diver Meghan Wade (Berea, OH/Berea) tallied two first-place finishes for the Lions. She won the 100 backstroke in a time of 1:06.02 and was a part of the winning 200 free relay. Emily Spicher (Falls Creek, PA/DuBois) and Megan Daily (Pittsburgh, PA/Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) helped get the win with a time of 1:55.78.

Wade edge out one other diver to win the both 1-meter board competitions. She earned a 232.75 for five dives on the 1m and 168.30 on the 1m for six dives.

Behrend also recorded six second-place finishes, led by Lauren Rosato (Pittsburgh, PA/Chartiers Valley). She was runner up in the 50 free (28.30) and 100 free (1:01.52). Alex Isaacson (Williamsport, PA/Williamsport) came in first on the team and second overall in the 200 IM with a season-best time of 2:37.56.

Hannah Kelly (Elizabeth, PA/South Allegheny), competing in her first collegiate meet, swam the team's first 1000 free of the season in 14:21.63 for second.  Georgie Hatch placed second in the 200 free (2:23.58) and then took nearly eight seconds off her 500 free time to take third in 6:27.55.

Daily also led the team in the 100 fly, touching in a season-best time of 1:09.96 for second.

The Lions return to action on Saturday at Baldwin-Wallace. Meet begins at 1 p.m.
