Women's Swimming and Diving Falls To W&J

ERIE, Pa. – Meghan Wade (Berea, OH/Berea) and MaryEllen Spooner (Lockhaven, PA/West Springfield) were double winners for the Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team but the Lions fell to Washington & Jefferson 124-71 on Saturday afternoon.

Wade was the top female diver, recording a score of 243.80 in the one meter and 259.50 in the three-meter competition for six dives.

Spooner touched first in the 50 freestyle in 27.20 before winning the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:24.48.

Sarah Jelinek (Warren, PA/Warren) was the other individual winner for Behrend. She tallied a time of 6:32.12 in the 500 freestyle, while Hannah Kelly (Elizabeth, PA/South Allegheny) finished second in 6:50.95.

The Lions return to action on Saturday against Pitt-Bradford. Meet begins at 1 p.m.
